* Joint Press Release on ReVenture Incinerator Project

On January 28, 2010, the Blue Ridge Environmental Defense League (BREDL), the Central Piedmont Group of the North Carolina Sierra Club, Citizens for a Health Environment (CHE), Sustain Charlotte, and the Catawba Riverkeeper issued a join press release requesting that important issues be addressed and answers provided to critical concerns on the proposed ReVenture gasification incinerator. Cited in the press release are 18 examples of unresolved issues that question the viability of the project.

The five organizations are calling upon the Managers, Mayors, and Boards of Commissioners for Belmont, Charlotte, Cornelius, Davidson, Gastonia, Huntersville, Matthews, Mint Hill, Mount Holly and Pineville as well as the Managers and Boards of Commissioners of Gaston and Mecklenburg Counties to establish Public Hearings in their areas for citizens to learn more about the issues of the proposed project, ask questions and express their concerns.
