On another website a criticism was raised about some of the references on a fact sheet produced by Incinerator Free Mecklenburg and the Central Piedmont Sierra Club. We would like to address this.
The front page of the 4-page flyer was the first public announcement produced before ReVenture had announced their technology. Given the fact that it has taken ReVenture over a year to announce their technology and they have changed their technology three times, one can understand why it’s difficult to keep up with this and the many other changes to the project.
The criticism that some references do not address the current technology is valid. However, given when the material was produced and based on available information at the time we stand behind the accuracy of the referenced materials. We will be updating this information as soon as possible.
Until then, we believe that you should review and feel free to distribute the following materials:
Incinerators: Myths vs. Facts (2010 Report by the Global Alliance for Incinerator Alternatives**) Incinerator Myths vs Facts 2010
Incineration of Municipal Solid Waste: Impact on Global Warming (Fact Sheet 1*) MSW Fact Sheet Global Warming
Incineration of Municipal Solid Waste: An Update on Pollution (Fact Sheet 2*) MSW Fact Sheet Pollution
Incineration of Municipal Solid Waste: A reasonable energy option? (Fact Sheet 3*) MSW Fact Sheet Energy
Incineration of Municipal Solid Waste: Understanding the Costs and Financial Risk (Fact Sheet 4*) MSW Fact Sheet Cost
All of these materials are referenced and have undergone through review but numerous organizations. Do all the facts and information apply directly to the ReVenture garbage gasification incinerator? No, but we believe that most of the scientific data, issues and concerns do apply and that the reader can distinguish which information deals with local or regional issues.
