Please mark your calendars and save this important ReVenture meeting date, May 16, 7:00 pm!
Many concerned citizens, including Mecklenburg County Commissioner Bill James, believe that the Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) vote to proceed with the Foxhole expansion so that ReVenture could dump their pass through garbage from six counties and their toxic incinerator ash in the Foxhole Landfill violated their legal and binding agreement with local residents. The BOCC should address this issue publicly and declare there vote invalid. Once again, a change in ReVenture’s plans has come to light and new areas of our community will now be at risk. Plan to attend this meeting, speak out, and say No to the ReVenture Gasification Incinerator, No to the ReVenture Foxhole Landfill Expansion!
Date: Monday, May 16, 2011
Time: 7:00 pm
Place: Elon Park Elementary School (11425 Ardrey Kell Rd.)
Meeting will take place in the gym – come into the main building
Purpose: The Foxhole Advisory Council will discuss the impact of the Mecklenburg County Commissioners’ recent vote to give the Solid Waste Department $15 million to expand the landfill to possibly accept garbage and/or ReVenture residual waste after its current contract with Republic Waste expires June 30, 2012.
This meeting will allow for public input, unlike the April 25 meeting where the County and ReVenture used up the majority of the time with presentations. We will invite elected officials – e.g., Mecklenburg County Commissioners – with the expectation that some will attend.
