* ReVenture Not Authorized by BOCC to Deposit Ash in Foxhole Landfill

At the May 16 Foxhole Advisory Council (FAC) meeting, Mecklenburg Solid Waste indicated that that ash from the proposed ReVenture gasification incinerator would be eligible for disposal at the Foxhole Landfill. A review of the April 5th BOCC meeting minutes and the motion that was approved did not authorize ReVenture to be able to dispose of their ash from the proposed gasification incinerator:

“3) Authorize the developer of the ReVenture Project to include the County’s Foxhole Landfill as the receiving landfill for residuals and by-pass waste in their Solid Waste Permit Application.”

In fact, the request did not include municipal solid waste (MSW), excess processed fuel, ash or other materials.

At the FAC meeting Mecklenburg Solid Waste and Chairman Roberts announced that MSW and by-pass waste were “off the table” and would not be disposed of in the Foxhole Landfill. We have requested that the BOCC formally clarify this position in a letter to ReVenture advising them that only their “residuals” are eligible to be listed in their permit application.

Join us in this request! Email and call your County Commissioner and ask them to formally clarify this position in a letter to ReVenture advising them that only their “residuals” are eligible to be listed in their permit application.
